It’s been a long week, I had to assume the role of supervisor and I
think I’ve come to the conclusion that I do not want to becone
management. I’m posting this from my smoke break, on my sidekick. The
short email format and the relative burn rate of my cigarette forces the
brevity of this post. So kids… in summation, tgif

shambles
I woke up late and dizzy this morning. I happily had clothes prepped for the day, but I was fumbling and rushing at the same time. Without taking anything to eat or drink I rushed out the door. Twenty miles into the thirty-six mile commute, I realized… I don’t have my Harrods shopper which means I don’t have my work laptop. Having no coffee, I dove into my purse for cigarettes… poo… no cigarettes either but hey at least the dizziness went away and honestly I don’t need cigarettes.
Now at work, I thought ‘No problem, I’ve got work email running on the Macbook, and whatever I need to run on Windows, I can open up Parallels.’ So far, my Macbook has been working like a champ but I haven’t. I don’t like switching from app to app since I’m used to swiveling my chair being work centric on the Dell and… everything else on my Mac. I will get through this day… with the promise of the OhMyPod Episode 100 post and release of the T-Mobile Sidekick3 I can stay motivated.
PSBTW: While waiting for OMP Episode 100 to come out, you can hear two men lick me from front to back, on OhMyPod! Episode 99 [link]
McCapitalism… I’m loving it (no really I am)
There’s no doubt that I love capitalism. We all live and participate in it like it or not. There are some of us who choose to be discerning about what is hyped and marketed, then make personal choices. There are others that fall into the marketing, feel exploited, then bitch about being a victim. I believe in corporate governance and ethical business practices but that doesn’t mean anything if the consumer’s are just going to feel abused, come back for more, increase demand, then complain about it.
I realize the McVideoGame is meant to show rainforest depletion, animal abuse, poor working conditions, and childhood obesity. The player controls the agri-business, the McDonald’s store front, and media marketing. Unfortunately this simulation/game does not point out that the gluttonous public flooding into the fictive store front is fueling this destructive cycle. Do they realize that the throngs of people in line are what is causing the actions of the company?
Go play the game, and get back to me. If you’re like me, you may just go out and get a catandgirl.com “Capitalists Do It Ruthlessly” t-shirt and wear it without irony. If this game bolsters your hatred for McDonald’s, why don’t you just try and influence your friends and family to pass up the golden arches. It would be much more effective than playing a silly video game
ah… myspace love
Teen girl from mid-Michigan has fallen in love with a high school drop out in the West Bank. Long story short, girl falls in love on myspace, tells lies to her parents to get a passport, passport seized in Tel Aviv and she was sent home. I am not one to talk about cultivating relationships genuine or fictive, virtual or in vivo… don’t ask me how I have friends or manage to keep my Sims happy. This gal still plans on marrying this man, only three years her senior, and is willing to convert to Islam.
I tried writing some wonderful Benetton copy about the cultures and colors in Detroit… but I’m just not feeling too warm and fuzzy. There is a diverse population in Detroit, Palestinian and Israeli are no exception. Without divulging any preference of my own, these two ethnic groups can house some seriously smokin’ hot men, so I don’t blame the then sixteen year old girl. If this works out, that’s one really bitchin’ story that she can tell her kids.
